AMU provides rapid assessment, stabilisation, and ongoing care for patients admitted with acute and often complex medical needs. Band 3 CSWs are essential to maintaining safe, effective, and responsive care by carrying out delegated clinical tasks and supporting the multidisciplinary team. This role requires compassion, strong clinical awareness, good communication, and the ability to work under pressure while ensuring patient dignity, safety, and comfort. Provide fundamental patient care within the AMU setting Assist patients with activities of daily living (personal hygiene, mobility, continence care, nutrition, hydration, pressure area care). Undertake delegated clinical tasks (Band 3 responsibility) National guidance states Band 3 CSWs undertake a range of delegated clinical care duties, such as: Monitoring and recording vital signs (e.g., BP, temperature, pulse, respirations). Blood glucose monitoring. Urinalysis, pregnancy testing. Basic wound care, simple dressings, catheter care. Recognise and report patient deterioration Carry out timely clinical observations (NEWS2) and escalate concerns immediately to registered nursing staff. Support Registered Nurses and the Multidisciplinary Team Assist with clinical investigations and treatments appropriate to training level.
