Job Summary/Description: The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is now recruiting for suitably qualified and committed individuals to take up the role of Third Secretary. Successful candidates will contribute to the development and implementation of Ireland’s foreign policy and in representing, promoting and protecting the interests, values and economic well-being of Ireland and its citizens. Main Duties of the Job: A diplomatic officer can expect to work at headquarters in Dublin or Limerick, as well as at a number of Irish embassies, consulates and multilateral missions abroad. Serving abroad is an integral part of the work of a Third Secretary in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Applicants must be citizens of Ireland and must, on or before the closing date of 05 May 2026, hold a first or second class honours degree (minimum of Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications).
