Job Description

Expression of Interest - Forestry & Plant Health Field Work

We are seeking motivated individuals to support Forestry Commission plant health and forest management contracts across the UK. This role suits students, graduates, or those working in forestry, arboriculture, ecology, or similar fields who want hands-on field experience.

Work will take place across East, South East, Central and South West England, and Wales. You should be based nearby and willing to travel between sites.

Duties include surveying for Oak Processionary Moth nests and Sweet Chestnut Blight, setting and checking pheromone traps, timber import inspections, recording data using ArcGIS/GPS, and assisting with tree marking and measuring.

Applicants should have an interest or background in a relevant field, be comfortable working outdoors, and ideally have tree identification skills. A full UK driving licence is required; access to a vehicle is desirable.

This is seasonal subcontract work, mainly from June to October, with potential for further opportunities. Training and will be provided for suitable candidates.
