We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Warehouse Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of our warehouse by performing various tasks related to shipping, receiving, and inventory management. This position requires physical stamina and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while adhering to safety protocols.

Who we are

Lightwood PLC’s operates TEN warehouses, totaling over 250,000 sq.ft. of secured covered warehousing in the CM6, CM7, CM16 and CM17 Postcodes. A mixture of racking, floor space and dedicated areas. External storage available.

• FOUR of our sites have HMRC Type A approved customs warehousing
• TWO of our sites are Organically Accredited.
• TWO of our sites are Food Registered.
• All units are located on secure gated commercial estates, are fully alarmed (BT, Redcare, with Police response), and are covered by our centrallycontrolled CCTV systems.

Duty hours can fluctuate, however will be primarily 9 hours per day, Monday to Friday.

The role

Full time, permanent position.

Monday to Friday

9hour day shifts (paid varying start/finish times)

The job duties

• General warehouse operative duties.
• Capable to drive and operate forklifts. Reach & Counterbalance.
• Ability to pick, pack and palletise orders.
• Ability to load/unload vehicle with loose boxes/items by hand.
• Travel to/from various sites.
• Communicate well with others.
• Operate other warehouse equipment, including PPT’s (motorised pallet trucks) and manual pallet trucks, to load and unload goods.
• Perform picking and packing of orders accurately and efficiently.
• Assist with shipping and receiving processes, ensuring all items are accounted for and properly documented.
• Maintain an organised warehouse environment by keeping stock in designated areas and ensuring cleanliness.
• Conduct regular stock checks and report discrepancies as needed.
• Handle materials with care, ensuring compliance with safety regulations during heavy lifting tasks.
• Collaborate with team members to meet daily operational goals

• Must have their own use of a vehicle for travel to/from our sites located in CM6, CM7, CM16 and CM17 postcodes. The role will primarily be based in CM6.

Experience

• Previous experience in a warehouse setting is essential.
• Familiarity with heavy lifting techniques and safe practices is essential.
• Experience with shipping and receiving processes, including knowledge of packing methods.
• Proficiency in using forklifts.
• Basic mechanical knowledge related to warehouse equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively individually and within a team environment.
